Facebook changed their layout… again. This is the 6th or so time they’ve done so. And without a doubt, there is a public outcry every time (Ironically, by making a facebook group or fan page about it).
- The group “Facebook: SWITCH BACK TO THE OLD NEWS FEED!!!” has 1,275,867 members!
- The group “MEMBERS WANT THE OLD FACEBOOK FORMAT BACK!” has 799,799 members!
So when change happens there will undoubtedly be those who are comfortable with the way things are, so they will complain because:
People like the idea of change, but not its effects.
People are idealists with tenancy to compromise.
People want innovation without it’s costs.
But good leaders know they have to make changes despite the public’s initial outcry.
Your business, church, or organization needs to be constantly evaluating and improving to make sure its serving its mission and vision to the best of their ability. Anything less is cheating your own potential.
Think of it this way: if facebook never improved their format, they might have suffered the fate of… myspace. And apparently, change is paying off (at 400 million users).
